Isaac Tullis, a well known retired farmer of Bearcreek township, lived on his well kept place on RR#1, out of Bryant. He was born in Noble township on a farm on March 12, 1853 and has resided in Jay co. all his life. He was one of four children born to Johathan and Jane (Grattis) Tullis whose parents were pioneers of Jay co. Members of WEST LIBERTY CHRISTIAN CHURCH.

Isaac's mother died when he was twelve years old. He went to school at the Old Hode log school house in Noble twonship. He early became engaged as a farm hand in the neighborhood, making his home at the various places of his employment during the time of his young manhood. When he married Nancy Fairchild on Nov. 6, 1875, he rented a forty-acre farm in Noble township and made his home there for nine years, then bought a forty-eight acre farm in Jackson township. He lived there for twenty years, meantime increasing his acreage by the purchase of an adjouning tract of thiry acres. He sold that farm and bought eighty acres in Bearcreek township. Only sixteen acres of this land was cleared and the task of clearing and improving the farm fell upon him, but he got the job done in good time and has long had a comfortable home there and a well improved farm plant, everything being kept up in "shipshape" fashion. As he prospered, he bought an adjoining tract of fifty-five acres, making a good farm with 135 acres. In 1914 the farm was rented by his son, Charles Tullis, who managed the farm. Issac was a Democrat and he and his wife were members of the West Liberty Christian chruch. They were the parents of ten children. from: HISTORY OF JAY COUNTY INDIANA by Milton T. Jay M.D., 1922
