PURCHASE OF LAND BY ISAAC STANDLEY Muhlenberg County, Kentucky Deed Book 10, p.237 This indenture made this 19th day of July in the year of our lord one thousand and eight hundred and forty one between JOHN STANDLEY of the County of Muhlenberg and commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and ISAAC STANDLEY of the county and commonwealth aforesaid of the other part- witnesseth that the said JOHN STANDLEY for and consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said ISAAC STANDLEY and his heirs forever a certain tract and parcel of land alying or being in the county aforesaid and on the waters of Isaac Creek- containing by survey a pattent one hundred acres and bounded as follows to wit. Beginning at a black walnut dogwood and white oak beginning corner of a hundred acre survey made in the name of William Downing and a 400 acre survey of Sharp Garris, thence with said Garris's line N 85-W 152 poles to a black oak, walnut and elm, thence S 17 E 100 poles to a white oak and hickory, thence S 80 E 106 poles to a hickory and white oak on the bank of a branch, thence due East 82 poles to a Stake, thence N 44 poles to a stake in the line of survey on which Samuel Bethel now lives, thence with a line thereof due West 132 poles to a black oak and black gum thence North 60 poles to a poplar and black oak in said Downing's line with the same N 85-W 280 poles to the beginning, with all and singular the premises and appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said ISAAC STANDLEY his heirs & to have and to hold the said one hundred acres of land with all and singular the premises & appurtenances against the said JOHN STANDLEY his heirs and all persons claiming the same by from or under him the said JOHN STANDLEY his heirs & so unto the said ISAAC STANDLEY and heirs forever. But it is clearly understood between the parties aforesaid that should said land be taken by any other or person claim the JOHN STANdLEY is in no ways bound to make good the same or any part thereof as he only warrants and defends the same against himself & his heirs and all persons claiming under him. In testimony thereof the said JOHN STANDLEY has hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year within written. Teste JAS. ARNETT JAS. ARNETT JUN. witnesses to the deed W. A. EAVES Muhlenberg County Sct Charles F. Wing clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid certify that the foregoing deed from JOHN STANDLEY to ISAAC STANDLEY was this day provided to me in my office and proved to be the act & deed of the said STANDLEY by the oaths of W.A. EAVES & JAS. ARNETT the two subscribing witnesses thereto which is thereupon admitted to and truly recorded given under my hand this the 2nd day of August 1841 References
