Hawes, Samuel - entered service in Virginia; Lt. Colonel; Bounty Land Warrant #1066 issued 7/5/1799 to only surviving heirs: Elizabeth (Hawes) Buckner, Mary (Hawes) Buckner, Charlotte (Hawes) Buckner, Elliott Hawes, Richard Hwes & Walker Hawes; records lost in Washington D.C. fire in 1800; query letter in file states a Samuel Hawes of Caroline County, Virginia, married 1712 to Ann Spencer, another Samuel Hawes married Ann Walker who probably was born abt. 1728, also an Isaac Hawes born abt. 1713 in Caroline County, Virginia, or Essex County, Virginia, died there in 1789 & his son Isaac moved to Georgia where he died 1823 in Lincoln County; query letter in file states an Anna Haw/Hawes married John Stewart in Hanover County, Virginia.
