"The Dunkle family came to Vinton County in 1818. John Dunkle was the father of Isaac Dunkle. He lived a long life in Vinton County and was highly esteemed by his fellowmen."

History of Hocking Valley, Ohio, pg. 1161:
"Isaac Dunkle commenced his residence in Vinton County at the age of 3 years, in 1818. He was born in Pickaway County, September 11, 1815, his father, John Dunkle, moving to this section. Mr. Dunkle (Isaac) is still living, and a resident of Vinton County, highly esteemed by those who know him, an honest man and upright citizen."

Will of Isaac Dunkle

Know all men by these presents that I, Isaac Dunkle, of Swan Township, Vinton Co., Ohio, being in good health and of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made at any time.
And as to my worldly estate and all the property real, personal or mixed of which I shall die seized and possessed or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my decease, 1st: I devise bequeath and dispose thereof in manner following to wit:
My will is that all my past debts and funeral expenses shall be executor hereafter named be paid out of my estate as soon after my decease as shall by him be found convenient.
2nd: I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife all of my property real, personal, and mixed of which I may die possessed of to use and enjoy while she may live.
3rd: After the death of my beloved wife I give devise and bequeath to my niece Nancy Karns and her heirs all of my estate of every kind, real personal and mixed of what I and my wife may die possessed of. I hereby appoint and nominate James Rosser and Harvey Karns to be the executors of this my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I, the said Isaac Dunkle, have to this my last will and testament entered my name to this my last will and testament and affixed my seal this 13th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight (13 Jan 1880).
