Facts and Events
His name is Isak Aslaksen/Aslakson/Aslagsen in baptism records of his first children and in censuses 1865-70, and Isaac Anderson in later records and census in 1860, and 1875-1900. He is Isak Aslakson in property records in 1860. Isaac Anderson arrived in the Rushford area in the Fall of 1854, settling on land north of Rush Creek, near the present 810 N. Mill Street. He built the fourth dwelling in the city, and was the first blacksmith and plow maker. It is said he brought the first horse into the Rushford area. He married Anna MARIE Hendrickson, sister of other Rushford settlers Hendrick and Anders Hendrickson. He acquired 120 acres in Fillmore County, Section 11, E 1/2 of the SE 1/4 and the NW 1/4 of the SE 1/2. This parcel lies on the west side of his brother-in-law Anders Hendrickson. |
