Ida was the last of 14 children born to John W. and Nancy, and as such received a lot of attention from her older siblings. She attended the Robinson School until the family moved to Rule TX, and she continued her education there. After all the brothers left home, and her parents had died, she and her sister Mary maintained the home in Rule. Josie attended a special school in Abiline TX, then worked for several years as secretary for the Courtney Broom Company in Fort Worth. Later she began to sell Avon products which continued to be her income for the rest of her life. She died on Aug 6, 1972 and is buried in the family plot in Rule.
