    Ida Ruth Brawner Brown, 70, of 1756 Bonds Road died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998.

    A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Herman and Lula Mae Brawner. She was retired from Hart Care Center as a social worker assistant and a member of Old Canon Baptist Church.

    Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home with the Revs. Gary McWhorter, Sam Duncan, J.J. Chatham and Truitte Brawner officiating. Burial will be in Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

    Survivors include her husband, Melvin Larmar Brown; three daughters, Pam Rowland, Dewy Rose, Melba Rowland, Royston, and Kathy MCurley, Hartwell; four sons, James Lamar Brown, Waleska, Curtis Edwin Brown, Hartwell, Jerry R. Brown, Canon, and Keith Brown, Jacksonville, Fla.; five sisters, Louise Crowder and Martha Brawner, both of Lavonia, kMary Isom, Anderson, S.C., Betty Phillips, Athens, and Linda Sellers, Toccoa; three brothers, Robert Brawner, Anderson, S.C., the Rev. Truitte Brawner, Toccoa, and Grady Brawner, Eastanollee; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

    The family is at the residence and will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
