    HARTWELL-Melvin Lamar Brown, 83,...died March 19, 2009 at his home. ...he was the son of Vinson and Laura Jordan Brown and the husband of Irene McCollum Turpin Brown. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European and Pacific Theaters, and was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment Company after 28 years of service in the shipping department. He was a member of Old Canon Baptist Church.

Brown..., and Keith Brown; stepsons, Leroy Turpin...Billy Turpin...daughters, Pam Rowland, Dewy Rose, Melba Rowland, and Kathy McCurley...stepdaughter, Callie Gentry...; brothers, Carl Brown,...Bennie Brown,...; sister Mildred Suprak, ...13 grandchildren, 16 step grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his first wife Ida Ruth Brawner Brown; brothers, Edwin, Ray, Joe and Williard Brown; and sisters, Opal Brawner, Zadie Bridges, and Ossie Stephens.
