  2. It is common to state that Ichabod was a twin of Ebenezer, both born 12 Mar 1690/91. However, the birth date of 12 Mar 1690/91 belongs to an Ebenezer in a different family, John and Rebecca Woodward of Newton, Mass, and therefore probably has nothing to do with either Ichabod or his brother Ebenezer. It is believed Ichabod is called a twin of Ebenezer based solely to fit him in as second son which is his presumed position based on their father's will. In other words, not on any documentary evidence. The mistaken assumption about the 12 Mar 1690/91 birthdate constrained him to fit between Benjamin Jr. born about 1689 and 12 Mar 1690/91, which makes twindom an attractive solution. However, without the limitation of the 12 Mar 1690/91 birth, twindom is not necessary, and seems unlikely. There is very little information about the births of most of the children in this family. It is hard to be more precise than to say that Benjamin was presumably born after Mary in 1683, and Ebenezer was presumably born before 1693, and this leaves a large window in which to place Ichabod.
