Humphrey Ewing Maclae, 4th of Cathkin, d. 1860, age 90; Humphrey marr Jean BROWN (d. 1874, age 100), dau of Alexander Brown, Dean of Guild (Glasgow Herald, 1893). Humphrey (1770-1860) marr Jean, (1774-1874), dau of Alexander Brown, Provost of Glasgow (Erskine Halcro Genealogy, 1890); Alexander was not Provost of Glasgow.

Humphrey inherited estates in Jamaica in 1792 from Ralph Fisher, a maternal uncle (Glasgow Herald, 1893).

In 1851 Humphrey Ewing Maclae (1771 Carmunnock, landed proprietor, DL), wife Jane Ewing (age 70, Cardross, Dunbartons.), were at Cathkin Hse, Carmunnock, Lanarkshire (census, findmypast); it is possible that Jane was age 76. In abt 1858 Humphrey Ewing McLae, esq., was owner of Cathkin mansion hse and estate, Carmunnock (Name Book, scotlandsplaces). In 1871 Jane Ewing Maclae (1775 Glasgow) was at Cathkin Hse, Carmunnock, Lanarkshire (census, findmypast).
