The Pension Application of Huldah Hill, widow of John Hill is long and I won't copy it here. It can be found at http://southerncampaign.org/pen/index.htm .

The application is dated 3 Feb 1838 from Anson Co., NC. In it she states she has remained unmarried since his death, he was in the service two or three years before their marriage and at least 3 months after their marriage. She gives John's birthdate 4 Feb 1749; location, Halifax County, NC, and his date of death was 14 Aug 1817. Date of their marriage was 4 Aug 1781. Also mentions that her parents opposed their marriage because she had not known him long, but John sent a young boy to get her and she left the family home without the parents knowledge or permission to marry him. Their marriage was performed by Stephen Miller J.P. and James Duncan a witness. She mentions her brother Isaac Jackson, her brother Capt. Jonathan Jackson, her father Col. John Jackson. Her husband had been taken prisioner and parolled. Her father and brothers are now deceased. Hill the son of John Hill & Huldah Hill his wife was born the 9th day of January 1795, Jonathan Hill the son of John Hill & Huldah Hill his wife was born the 27th of February 1797, Huldah Hill the Daughter of John Hill & Huldah Hill his wife was born the 6th day of October 1799, William Hill the son of John Hill & Huldah Hill his wife was born the 7th day of September 1804, Rebehah Hill the Daughter of John Hill & Huldah Hill his wife was born the 23rd day of April 1809, That her husband John Hill died the 14th day of August 1817,

Boggan Clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for Anson County certify that satisfactory evidence has been exhibited to said court that Huldah Hill widow of John Hill died on the 28th day of August 1840 and left John Hill, Isaac Hill, Jacob Hill, Jonathan J. Hill, Huldah Hill and William Hill who survived her.
