[edit] Hugh RankinHugh Rankin owned land on Sleepy. Creek, Long Marsh, Bulskin Creek Run, all of which he had disposed of by 1767. These tracts possibly were in some case the place of family's first settlement. Hugh went to the "Pittsburgh County" which could mean around Ft. Pitt or any place in what became southwestern Penna., southeast Ohio, Kentucky, and southern Ohio, where there are his descendants now. Hugh Rankin was a chain bearer for George Washington in the 1750's when George Washington was surveyed for Lord Fairfax. |
