Story from Carla Pulliam who has done extensive research on the Moore line" Hugh Jacob Moore was a member of the Ku Klux Klan. I guess he had repented and was going to turn states evidence on the klan. The night before the trial the Klan came to his house and tied him to a haystack. He developed pneumonia and died. She said may of Hugh's family served in the Klan. This is probably one reason his son, John Riley Moore, went to Utah after he and his family joined the church.
