Milton - Howard J. Holliday, son of G. W. Holliday, Milton, was instantly killed in an accident in Riverside, Calif., Friday afternoon, according to a brief telegram received here. He was a lineman for an electric company.
'Happy' Holliday, as he was commonly known here, was born in Elkhorn, July 28, 1898. Except for a few years spent at Beloit in his early childhood, he had lived in this vicinity until the family moved to California in October, 1933. He graduated from the old Milton high school with the class of 1917. He was married to Miss Alice Pfieffer, Milton.
Before leaving for California, Mr. Holliday had lived for five years on the George Kuthlow farm, Fulton. He was Master of the Fulton Grange and an ardent worker in the Fulton Social Center and Fulton church.
In Riverside he was employed by the electric company as a lineman. He was a faithful worker in the Baptist church there, especially among the young people. He was liked and admired wherever he lived and leaves a host of friends here and in California.
Besides his father, he is survived by his widow, his son, Rolland, three daughters, Geraldine, Gwendolyn and Patricia; five sisters, Mrs A. F. Saunders, Minneapolis; Mrs. Ruth Mansur, Rock Prairie; Mrs. Evalyn Millard and Mrs. Esther Rasmussen, both of Janesville, and Mrs. Gladys Tiffany, Milton Junction; two brothers, The Rev. Ralph Holliday, New London, and the Rev. Walter W. Holliday, Hebron. His mother preceded him in death in 1921.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday in Riverside. Final arrangements for burial have not been made.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Holliday left Saturday for Riverside to attend the funeral.
