His wife and her parents were born in Virginia. His daughter was born in Kansas. His(?) mother was born in Virginia, her father in Pennsylvania, her mother in Virginia. In 1910, he was living at 635 Sixth St, San Bernardino, CA, with wife Harriet (age 38), and daughters Margaret (14) and Katherine (5). He was a book keeper for a railroad office. They had a 28-year old single male lodger named Chester F. Wood, who was a stock clerk in the railroad office. They are shown 14 years married, mother of 4 children, 2 living. He and his parents were born in West Virginia. His wife and her parents were born in Virginia. His daughters were both born in Kansas. The lodger is from Illinois. (S4)

In 1920, he was living at 510 Topeka Ave, Topeka, KS, age 48, with his wife "Hallie" (age 49), daughter Margaret E. (23), daughter Katherine L. (14), and widowed mother-in-law Harriet B. (82). He is listed as a general store keeper for "Santa F??" (perhaps "Santa Fee"?). He and his parents were born in West Virginia. His wife and her parents were born in Virginia. In 1925, at age 54, he, his wife "Harriet E." (age 48), and his younger daughter Katherine, made a trip to Hawaii, and are documented on their re-entry to the country. Their residence is listed as 621 10th St., Topeka, KS. Horace is shown born May 18, 1871, in Shepherdstown, WV. His wife is shown born May 1st 1877, Caroline Co., VA. His daughter is shown born Feb 10 1905 in Topeka, KS. The ship was the SS Sierra, departing Honolulu on 8 Sept and arriving San Francisco on 15 Sept 1925.

In 1930, living on his own in Topeka, Kansas, working as chief clerk for a railroad. (S2)
