    Horace G. Myers, an old resident of North Woodland Township, died this
    morning...He left a widow and two children. He has been ill for some
    time. Funeral will be held at the Tamarack church on Sunday at 11
    o'clock.

    OBITUARY
    Horace G. Myers, one of the best known residents of Woodland Township,
    died at his home near the Tamarack church about 1 o'clock Friday
    morning, November 18, 1904, after having suffered for three years but
    was not confined to his bed till the last five months of his illness.
    
    Mr. Myers may be classed as one of the pioneers of Woodland, living here
    nearly all his life, having come here with his parents when only three
    years of age. He was born in Kalamazoo county, Michigan, August 23,
    1846, was married December 1, 1871 to Jane Covey. To this union were
    born three children--one died in infancy, the other two, Hayden E. and
    Elsie A., now having grown to maturity and married; Hayden, now living
    in Missaukee County, Elsie being Mrs. Wallace Merrian, now living at her
    father's farm. These two, with the bereaved wife, two brothers and
    three sisters are left to mourn the loss of a loving father, kind
    husband and affectionate brother.
    
    Mr. Myers was converted in 1873, and immediately joined the United
    Brethren church, and remained a faithful member till his death. He was
    a firm and sincere believer in the christian religion, was always an
    active and faithful worker both in the church and Sunday school. So
    firm was his belief in the Christian religion, that when near the end he
    had the sacrament administered.
    
    The doors of his home were always open to hospitality, so that the
    friendless and those who were in need might feel rest and shelter. In
    him was always found a friend in time of need, distress and sickness.
    
    The funeral was held Sunday forenoon from the Tamarack church, the Rev.
    Charles Jarvis officiating, the remains being interred in the Lakeside
    cemetery, being followed by a host of relatives and friends.
    
    He was one of a family of ten children, two brothers and one sister
    preceding him.
