Honora Kiley's birth date is from her head stone and her obituary.Her death date is from the Franklin Co. Death Resigter for 1938, #60. Nora was born near Earlville, Oneida Township, Delaware Co., Iowa.It is suspected that Nora was baptized at a Catholic church in the Earlville area.No baptism record has been found at this time. Nora moved with her family, to Hardin Co., Iowa abt. 1866, and to Franklin Co., Iowa abt. 1872.Her father, Philip Kiley, was a railroad laborer and helped construct the eastern section of the Dubuque-Sioux City Rail Road.Once construction of the railroad was complete, he purchased farm land.Nora appears with her parents at age 6/12 in the 1870 Delaware Co., Iowa census in Oneida Township.She is in the 1880 census with her family as a 10- year old in Etna Township, Hardin Co., Iowa. She married Edward Ryan in 1880 and they farmed the 80 acres just south of Nora's father, Philip Kiley, in Grant Township, Franklin Co., Iowa.They retired from farming and moved to Woodstock, Pipestone, Co., Minnesota in 1917.Five of Nora Kiley's brothers and sisters had moved to the Woostock - LakeWilson - Garvin, Minnesota area.They returned to live in Hampton in 1919 and lived there until there deaths.The death of their son Philip James in December 1918 is believed to have prompted their return to Iowa.
