    The Rev. Homer J. Farabaugh, 84, of Greensburg, went to be with his Lord on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in his home. He was born May 20, 1923, in Jeannette, a son of the late Clyde L. and Kathryn M. Giron Farabaugh. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 33 years at the Jeannette Post Office, serving as superintendent of postal operations and retiring as assistant postmaster in 1979. He then began a second career by studying for the ministry. In 1991, he was ordained as a member of the Western Pa. Conference of the United Methodist Church. He pastored churches in Penn, Hecla, New Derry, Lycippus, New Madison and Harrison City. Failing eyesight compelled him to retire at age 70. He graduated from the Salvatorian Seminary, attended Duff's Business College, McKeesport Business School and Duquesne University. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 37th Infantry Division in the South Pacific. He received the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. He was past commander of Disabled American Veterans No. 26, a member of the Jeannette American Legion Post 344 and VFW Post 9138. He was also past president and director of the Westmoreland Federal Employees Credit Union for 40 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Margaret L. Loughner Farabaugh, in 2002; and two brothers, Leonard and Francis Farabaugh. He is survived by three sons, the Rev. Timothy M. Farabaugh and wife, Debby, of Woodbridge, Va., Robert A. Farabaugh and wife, Kay, of Penn Township, and Dennis J. Farabaugh and wife, Diane, of Hatboro; a daughter, Jennifer L. Mode, of Greensburg; six grandchildren, David, Michael, Christopher, Joshua, Elizabeth and Ashley; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Alexis, Vanessa, Garrett and Peyton; two brothers, Albert Farabaugh and wife, Carol, of Findlay, Ohio, and Gordon Farabaugh and wife, Cheryl, of Jamison; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Community United Methodist Church, Harrison City, with the Revs. John E. Ciampa and D. Christopher Livermore co-officiating. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
