"WILBER, HIRAM, was born in South Hero, Vermont, May 20, 1806. His father's farm bordered on Lake Champlain; consequently, his early life was spent on its historic shores. He married Armenia Holester [sic] at Grand Isle, Vermont. They moved west settling in the wilds of southern Michigan. They left there because of the sickness and disaster in the malarial infested scourge of that region. They then moved to Kingsville, in Ashtabula County, and on to Pennsylvania. The Wilbers arrived in Bazetta Mar. 20, 1840, the parents of eleven children. Mar. 1, 1865, Armenia died. Hiram then married Rachel Orwig, Mar. 18, 1866. Rachel was born in Hanover, Germany, and came to this country at the age of ten. She was married twice. Hiram died Nov. 21, 1889, at 89 years. Rachel died Aug. 9, 1910, at the age of 86. She was the mother of a son living in Pennsylvania."
