Facts and Events
The Hezekiah Gunns are problematic. The relationships are sometimes based on circumstantial evidence. This Hezekiah probably belongs to the group of Gunns in Onondaga. Note that son, also a Hezekiah, in the 1880 census says both his parents were born in Vermont. 1810 Census: Hezekiah I would have been 52 in 1810 and Hezekiah II would have been between 26 and 30 years old. Hezekiah III would not yet have been born. 1820 Census [pg 139]: There is a Hezekiah Gunn who appears in the 1830 Census in LeRoy Township of Genesee County, New York. However, the household has 1 male 15-20 yrs (Could be son Hezekiah III; he would have been 16), 2 males 20-30 yrs, and 1 male 30-40 yrs. The problem is that this Hezekiah could not have been born before 1790. So, who is he? The record also includes 1 female 10-20 yrs and 1 female 30-40 yrs. The following might refer to this Hezekiah: A few years ago E. M. Leslie obtained a ledger which was kept here by John Meeker, merchant in 1806, and from it he gleaned the following names of residents (farmers, unless otherwise noted) of this section at that time. (Hezekiah Gunn is included in this list. He must have been a farmer.)
