Facts and Events
The ancestors of Lydia and Sarah Phelps, who were wives of Hezekiah Adams, and the ancestors of Mary Phelps, who married Daniel Adams, came from Tewkesbury, England on the ship "Mary and John" and helped to establish Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1630. In 1635 members of this family removed to the founding of Windsor, Connecticut, as recited in Phelps 1899 and Kuhns 1943, etc. Windsor is accessible by ship, up river 45 miles from Long Island Sound, and across the river from the terminus of The Great Trail, frontier path thru the wilderness direct to Boston. Note: The French and Indian War occurred 1754-1763. The incidents leading to the Revolutionary War occurred 1763-1775 and the Revolution 1775-1781, with peace signed in 1783. References
