Born in Big Clifty Kentucky in 1911. Although His Birth Certificate has his name as "Earl", all other paperwork has him listed as Herman, and that is the name he went by. He died from a Coronary Attack in 1979. Joined the US Navy in 1928, and served as a hospital corpsman until 1948 when he transferred to fleet reserve. He worked at the Naval Supply Depot in Spokane Washington until 1958. He then moved to Okanogan Washington and began farming on Salmon Creek. He was married to Mary Lee Zolgar at Port Angeles Washington on May 1st 1937. They had 2 Daughters. Herman (or Nick as he was called) had two brothers. Albert and Robert.
