Facts and Events
He was most likely born in the 1160s because his father apparently died then, and also because he became an adult in the 1180s. Jocelin of Brakelond reported seeing Henry's presentation to the Abbot of Bury St Edmunds in 1182, by his uncle Thomas de Hastings. The Abbot considered Henry too young to take up his hereditary responsibilities at that time, but if the Hastings family thought it worth a try he was presumably a teenager. He had died by 1194 because his brother became his heir. He probably died overseas fighting for King Richard II. |
