Famous miniatures painter. Major head injury in WWI brought painter career to an end. Often remembered by many young impressionable children in the family.
Kenneth George Western writes of him in 18th May 1978:
"You speak of artist Western I knew, and you are referring, no doubt, to Harry (or Henry on Sundays) who lived at Romford. He died a great many years ago now, which he was entitled to do being my father's uncle, and my father is in his eighty-first year! Of course, you doubtless are aware there were many of Uncle Harry's brothers who were artistically talented; Uncle Harry just outlived them despite having half his head blown away by an angry German in the First World War."
Kenneth George Western also writes in a later letter:
"To visit his home in Romford was quite an experience I can tell you. His house was full, and I mean really full, with a vast collection of curios and paintings. He collected everything and it didn't stop there. We youngsters were taken at every visit around the collection and every item was illustrated by this fabulous gent. He really was a lovely man."
