Disputed Parentage

The marriage record of Henry Sterling in Botetourt County, Virginia supposedly lists Henry's father as Samuel Sterling, but this appear to be likely a transcription error, as Henry is listed in the will of John Sterling of Jefferson County, Tennessee in 1815. Additional research may be needed. The Samuel Sterling (1770-1838) listed in his marriage record appears to be his brother-in-law and brother of Henry Sterling's wife, who may have provided surety or witnessed the marriage certificate or record.
