Three bio pieces obtained from Indiana Riddles MyFamily.com site (Nov 2003): BIOGRAPHY: Settled in Hardeman Co., TN, then went to Marion Co., IN, then to Johnson Co., IN, then to St. Joseph Co., IN until the death of Nancy. He and Nancy had gone to Iowa in 1846, but they returned to Warren Twp, St. Joseph Co., IN. Nancy died 1/18/1854. He then went to Kansas. He had given his two oldest sons 1/2 of his real estate in 1855 and sold the remainder in 1856. There was trouble in Kansas upon admission to the Union, so he returned to St. Joseph Co., IN where he died 2/14/1857. He is buried beside Nancy in Price Cemetery. They had 7 children.

[page 68] In 1820 he left North Carolina, went through the Cumberland Gap into KY, into the wilds of Indiana. He was in Decatur Co., IN census in 1820, later located in Marion Co., IN, when Indianapolis was only a log cabin or two and a trading post. From there he went into Illinois between 1826-1830, then 1/3/1830 he bought land in Fountain Co., IN, then in Nov., 1830 bought land in Johnson Co., IN, Pleasant twp near his former Marion Co. home, and was in 1830 census here. In 1837 he went to St. Joseph Co., IN, living first in Union twp, where a lake is known as Riddles Lake, then he moved to Warren Twp. He had children born in Marion Co., Johnson Co., and St. Joseph Co. IN.

BIOGRAPHY: In 1846 he sold out and moved to Iowa, but not liking the climate, returned to St. Joseph Co, and purchased 320 acres in Warren township. He resided there until the death of his wife 1/18/1854, when he moved to Kansas. He had given his two eldest sons 1/2 of his real estate in 1855 and sold the remainder in 1856. At the time of Mr. Riddle's settlement in Kansas, the trouble relative to its admission to the Union was rife, and he returned to St. Joseph County, IN, where he died 2/14/1857 and was buried in the Price Graveyard, IN.
