Henry Price, the son of Henry Price and Catherine Smith was a Baker / Pastry Cook. He emigrated to Australia from London, England. It was difficult to work out Henry’s birth year as his age official documents varies considerably, this may have been due to him being illiterate and relying on others to record information or maybe he was used to changing his age to suit his purposes.

It could also be that Henry didn't want to get old as when looking at the dates, the older Henry gets the more years he takes off his age on official documents. To go along with this after his first wife's death he is in about his mid forties when he starts living with a woman in her early twenties.

Assuming that we have the correct parents listed, it appears that Henry was born and baptised in 1827 in Lambeth St Mary, England.

I have located four people who are called Henry Price who arrived in Australia have not been able to match up birth years. Most likely the correct Henry Price is in Launceston, Tasmania in 1848 when the census was conducted. There is were a few people called Henry Price who were in the United Kingdom's Merchant Navy, one of whom was born in London during 1827 and his military service was from 1853 - 1857.

• Marriage certificate to Catherine his age is 30 giving a birth year of about 1828

• Daughters birth certificate 3 years later it looks like 31 giving a birth year of 1830 With loss of clarity from copying there may be enough of a mark to indicate that it could have been a four. If this is the case then he was born in 1828.

• Daughters birth certificate in 1875 his age is 44 giving a birth year of 1831

• Marriage certificate to Annie his age is 46 giving a birth year of 1835

On the 26th August 1859 Henry was in court, in Hobart where he was fined 5 shillings and costs for leaving a dog, unmuzzled attached to his bakers cart, which it appears had bitten several children. Most likely the dog was attached to his cart to stop the children from stealing bread from the cart.

It is not currently known when Henry died, however it would be between 1883 when his youngest child was born and before the 27th April 1896 when his daughter Lucy was married. A search on the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages provides a few options but non which I am convinced are Henry. However a search for William Price brings up 3 William H Price's of which I think it would be worth obtaining a copy of the certificate 5/1895, for one William H who died in late 1894 or early 1895. The latest update says Henry died in January 1893.
