    Henry was the 6th child of 9 born to Henry and Susanna (Cline) Lauffer. He used the middle initial "B" to distinguish his mail from that of his father's mail.

    Married Mary Ellen (Kemp) aka: Ella Marie or Ellie on Oct. 15, 1882 in Pleasant Unity, PA.

    Father of John McCreary, Anna May, Harvey Franklin, Alice Bethelda and William Fisher Lauffer.

    Henry was a farmer and blacksmith who loved horses. He became a proficient veterinarian under the guidance of his brother-in-law John Albright of Westmoreland County.

    Each morning Henry would lift his children onto the big broad backs of the horses and lead them to the watering trough, while singing:

    TAKE THE WINGS OF THE MORNING - Fanny Crosby 1872

    Take the wings of the morning; speed quickly thy flight
    To Jesus, thy Savior, thy hope and thy light;
    The fount of His mercy is open for thee,
    Go wash and be cleaned in its waters so free.

    Chorus: Take the wings of the morning and fly,
    Ere the darkness shall cover the sky;
    Fly away from the shadows that over thee roll,
    And find in thy Savior the home of thy soul.

    Fly away to thy Savior, He waits to forgive;
    One look of His love, and thy spirit shall live;
    Thy faith will secure thee His blessing divine;
    Go plead thou His merits, and peace will be thine.

    On the wings of the morning fly home to His breast—
    There only thy refuge, there only thy rest;
    The moments are precious, the noontide is near;
    Fly home to the Savior, oh, linger not here.

    Henry B. also bought and sold lands, which became a very lurative business as the coal and coke industry flourished during the early 1900s. Henry suffered a stroke in the early and also late 1920s.

    He had a "sweet tooth" and loved pink wintergreen mints or white peppermints!
