Henry received a good education in the common schools and engaged in farming, which he pursued until his dead. Early in life, he moved to Mt. Pleasant twp. where he purchased a farm containing 175 acres of land, which was well adapted to farming and grazing.
During his life, he erected a large brick dwelling house, built a good barn and made many valuable improvements to his farm. He was a Republican and a member of the Reformed church, in which he held the office of Elder and Deacon.
