HENRY HOSLER WILL RETURN TO BALDWINSVILLE

Henry Hosler who since 1899 has resided in Chicago, will celebrate his 77th birthday next month and as a fitting observance of the event will return to Baldwinsville to make his home with his brother, Alex Hosler, of Salina street.
During Mr. Hosler's residence in Chicago he has had charge of the hydraulic hoist in the building occupied by the Chicago Post, one of the leading dailies of that city, and the following is taken from their issue of February 12:
"Never having messed a day in twenty-eight years of faithful service, Henry, the veteran elevator man of The Post building, is planning to retire next month on his 77th birthday and return to Baldwinsville, N.Y., his birthplace and his home for nearly fifty years; to spend the sunset of his life.
"As chauffeur of the "hydraulic hoist" Henry has become something of a traveler, averaging perhaps 1,500 or 2,000 miles a year, or nearly 50,000 miles since his first trip. Had he kept on going up instead of condescending to descent at the insistent summons of the bell, he might have made an enviable altitude record. In all these years of his perpendicular existence he has never had an accident. Each passenger has found himself, for the time being, a guest.
"There is sufficient time, even on a trip to the second floor, to discuss the weather, baseball or any absorbing topic of the day. And during the Christmas season the car is transformed into a bower of evergreen and holly, with--as some of the girls upstairs--suspect--a suggestion of mistletoe overhead.
"Henry was born in Baldwinsville, near Syracuse, in 1850, and from his boyhood days until 1899, when he came to Chicago to join his sch, he worked in a sash and blind factory.
"While his son offered him a home here and a life of leisure, Henry could not remain idle, and in the operation of the one elevator he found congenial occupation."
