Graduated Aberdeen High School in 1939. Served in U. S. Navy aboard submarines in World War II. Came to Spearfish, S.D. after discharge. Worked for brother as brickmason and then owned and operated Douglas Masonry for 24 years. Graduated from Black HillsState College in 1971 (member Kappa Delta Pi). Worked for Dakota Block and Steel of Rapid City, SD and for BusinessSystems of Spearfish. Retired in 1983. Member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church (Spearfish) and sang in choir. Served on parish council and was a lector and eucharistic minister. Was fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Was Charter president of Black Hills State Area Concert Association and served for several yearson its board of directors and as a campaign worker. Was a member of the Black Hills Barber Shop Chorus. Served on Spearfish School Citizens Committee in planning the junior high school construction. Was member and officer of Spearfish Lions Club and sang in Lions Club Quartet. Funeral was from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Spearfish, SD, 29 May 1987. Passed away at the Veterans Medical Center in Denver.
