This article assigns children Michael Coombs of Salem and Henry Coombs of Salem but presents no evidence to support the connection of the man of Marblehead. They also suggest one Humphrey Coombs of Salem who had a child out of wedlock might be related but no evidence is presented. Bridget is called daughter of his eldest son suggesting their was at least one more son besides Richard.

Henry Coombs was in Marblehead as early as 1646 [sic not seen before 22 Dec 1648], a laborer and farmer. He owned about eight acres of land near Darbies' Fort at Nogg's Head, which he purchased from David Corwithy and Thomas Dixey. He was granted land in lot #5 of the 1648/9 division of the swamp and was chosen way warden in 1656. In 1662, the townsmen agreed to request Thomas Dixie to provide another man to help with the ferry and turn out Henry Coombs. He signed the customs petition of 1668/9 as an inhabitant of Marblehead. He married Elizabeth _____, who was his administrix and she lived in the house at Nogg's Head in 1670. She married second, Stephen Griggs [doubtful].
