Henry was born in Germany. His father, John, died when he was seven years old. He was the youngest of five children. Two of his brothers and a sister emigrated to America. He stayed with his mother in Germany until her death. In 1874 he was a soldier in the Franco-Prussian War. In 1874 he married Theresa Wullner . He was a day laborer in Germany. In 1892 they emigrated to America with their family, which took 21 days, locating in Alton Illinois and living there for one year with Theresa's parents. Frank worked as a gardener there. In 1893 they moved to West Point Ne where they lived on a farm for 10 years. Henry & Theresa retired and moved into town while John stayed on the farm. About 1907 Frank moved to Stuart NE and bought a farm. Henry and Theresa moved to Stuart NE in 1914.(this was information from the Wolff family - some of which was wrong).

His wife, Theresa, broke her hip in 1933. She was asthmatic. She died in Stuart in 1933. Henry lived with his daughter, Gertrude Kaup on the Frank Kaup farm until his death in 1936.
