Aunt Helen never married. She was an accomplished organist and played the church organ for many years. About 1900 she and her younger sister, Bertha, went to Denver, Colorado to find work. Both found employment as maids in the homes of some of Denver's elite. When Bertha married and had children, Helen moved into Bertha's home in order to help with the boys. Many years later she moved back into Bertha's home to care for her during her last illness. Following Bertha's death she moved back to Nebraska.
