Birth? 14 Aug 1889 Elk Creek, Gosper, Nebraska, United States
Death? 22 Feb 1907 Gosper, Nebraska, United States

Family tradition states that Clara was particularly interested in the bell being installed in the new building which served the congregation at Immanuel Lutheran Church until the congregation dissolved in 1967. (She was also very interested in one of the young men helping to install the bell and was said to be on the verge of announcing their engagement.)

The bell called the members to divine service, greeted bridal parties, and tolled the sad news that a member of the congregation had died. The first for whom the bell tolled was Clara, the seventeen year old young lady who had been so fascinated by its installation.

There is a legend that the first person to ring a new church bell would die within the year. Clara, in a playful mood, tugged the bell rope causing the bell to ring. Shortly after that tug on the bell rope she died of pneumonia.
