OBITUARY - HELEN JANE DENNIS - 83, the 2nd daughter of James & Eleanor Smith, was born in Wheatfield Twp, Ingham Co on Jan 26, 1861 & died suddenly at her home on S.Putman St. on Jul 21, 1944. She was united in marriage to Marenus A.Dennis on Dec 31,1878 , who preceded her in death on Jan 12, 1917. To this union were born 2 daughters: Lillian May & Ethel Love. She was a devoted & loving wife, mother & grandmother & having been a life long member of this community, was well known by the older residents & much respected. In her earlier years while living at her farm home south of Williamston, she ministered to the sick & gave much of her time to the welfare of her family & friends. She attended the Congregational Church & was a long & active member of its Helping Hand Society. She is survived by the two daughters: Lillian Kuehn & Ethel Burkley, 1 granddaughter, Helen Kuehn; a sister, Mrs Minnie Dennis and many nieces & nephews. Funeral services held at the home in Williamston on July 24th, with Rev. Harod T. Reece officiating. NOTE: think the name of the sister is wrong??
