Harvard--Helen G. McLuen, 89, of Harvard, died Wednesday, Aug 24, 2005, at Harvard Care Center. She was born Oct. 21, 1915, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Richard and Lenore (Bates) Scott. She was a secretary for Ray Lush Insurance and Fred Stahl Insurance in Harvard for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, and she was a former member of the JU Club and the Harvard Women of the Moose. Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Larry) Smith of Poplar Grove; a son, Jim (Joann) McLuen of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Dowell, Christine (Tim) Dowell Phelps, Shelley (Mark) Dowell Huntington, Jill McLuen Turner, Jodi (Ryan) McLuen Avery, and Jedd and Jay McLuen and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Edgar McLuen; and her second husband Daniel Farley. The visitation will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard. The funeral is at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Interment will be private.
