Helen Lucille Brooks, 93, Nortonville, formerly of Lecompton and Perry, died Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Village Villa in Nortonville. She was born March 29, 1925 in Meriden, the daughter of Amos and Gladys Penry Bolz. Mrs. Brooks worked many years in the laundry facilities of Ripley Laundry, Topeka and Cherokee Lodge Nursing Home , Oskaloosa. She had formerly worked at Packer Plastics Co, Lawrence. She also served as a longtime caretaker with her husband of Oak Ridge Cemetery , Perry. She was married to Alva Everett Brooks on March 9, 1941 in Oskaloosa, he preceded her in death on January 4, 1996. Survivors include, one son, Everett (Wilma) Brooks, Meriden, two daughters, Darlene (Ralph) Fidler, Holton, Sharon (Gary) Leffler, Rock Away Beach, MO, two brothers, Harold Bolz, Meriden, Harvey Bolz, Meriden, one sister, Hazel L. Kennedy, Garnett, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Brooks, one daughter Barbara Tyler, and two grandsons, Eric Alan Brooks and Ralph Fidler, JR.
A Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Meriden Community Church fellowship hall. Inurnment will be at Meriden Cemetery.
