Carolina's two children that made the trip to America died a short time after arriving in America. Their mother told the older child just prior to his death that he was going to heaven to be with Jesus. The child said, "No not yet" in German and then died in his mother's arms. Henry became a naturalized citizen in 1866. In 1880, Henry and Carolina sold their property in Illinois and moved to Lawrence County. Their first home in Lawrence County was two miles south and one and a half miles east of Stotts City on what is known as the Kleine farm. When they arrived in Lawrence County they found that their house had burned so they had to live in the smoke house. In 1882, they moved three miles west and one and one half miles north of Stotts City. The farm stayed in the family until Henry's son, August, sold it in 1941. Henry was a farmer. The 1900 census shows Henry living with his family in Vineyard Township, Lawrence County, Missouri. The 1910 census shows Herman living with his family in Vineyard Township, Lawrence County, Missouri. Henry died on July 28, 1913. He is buried in East View Cemetery, Lawrence County, Missouri.
