Purchased 160 acres @ 1.25 per acre for $200: the SE 1/4 of Section 1, Township 11, Range 18 in the Town of Addison.
- ↑ The land was purchased for $200 @ 1.25 per acre. (This was before the Homestead Act of 1862 granting free land). The land was located at the SE 1/4 of Section 1, Township 11, Range 18, according to a tract book at the State Historical Society. The following describes the patent issued almost 2 years later, evidently for the same tract of land - Land Patent issued by the Milwaukee Land Offuce 1 Aug 1849 for a Cash Entry Sale in the name of "Christoph Rosenthal" and authorized by President Zachary Taylor for 160 acres with the land description: SE Quarter, Section 1, Townshp 11-N, Range 18-E of the 4th Prime Meridian - 1831 MN/WI, Washington County.
- ↑ He was living with his son, Friedrich, and family. Enumerated in household: [from previous page] Rosenthal, Friedrich, 49, Farmer, 6500 / 1000, born in Prussia; Johanna, 34, born in Prussia.
