Facts and Events
[Stamps-Sites_TFS.FTW] REFN: 786 Birth & death data from "World Family Tree", vol. 17, tree 1999 Hazel's middle name from "World Family Tree", vol. 17, tree 1999 From Frank's obituary: Hazel was a "former employee at Baptist Hospital 18 years". The Blood Bank, Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, TN. (The following is pieced together from memory, by Timothy and Katherine (Sites) Stamps, and may not be totally accurate.) Hazel's mother, Lula Vance, died when Hazel was the age of three, in Glasgow (Barren County), Kentucky. Hazel then went to live with her Aunt Lizzie (Elizabeth Vance) and James Judson Hart. They moved to Memphis, Tenessee (in ?), where the Harts bought the house at 3316 Macon Road. The Hart house at 3316 Macon Road in Memphis remained home base during their lives. Frank's church work took him to many places over the years, including Grundy, Virginia around 1939-1940. After James Hart passed away and the rest of the Hart family moved, Hazel continued to live at 3316 Macon Rd., with Frank Stamps and son Jerry. Aunt Lizzie lived with them until her death in 1965. At that time, ownership of the house transferred from Aunt Lizzie to her son Jim Hart (Judson James Hart). After Frank died in 1971, Hazel continued to live there, until 1981; in that year, she came to visit Katherine and Jerry to attend Paul's high school graduation in May, during which time she fell off the back porch and broke her hip. As a result, she moved from Memphis to Willis Manor in Richmond, Ky. During the last year of her life (1986), while suffering from interstitial fibrosis of the lungs, she stayed at the home of Jerry and Katherine Stamps at 208 Ridgeway Drive in Richmond. Hazel went to Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. In 1922, Frank transferred from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, to Union University, so he could be with her. References
