REFN: 787 From his father's obituary: "Jerry Stamps, minister of music and education at Leaclair Baptist Church and four grand children, Kathie, Timmy , David and Paul Stamps." Issue:

1. Gerald Frank Stamps, born Aug 30, 1929. He married Katherine Sites on April 21, 1957. Jerry Stamps was minister of music and education at Leaclair Baptist Church <1971>, Memphis, TN. He is a graduate of Memphis State University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX. (BSM and MRE). He has also served churches in North Carolina, Alabama, Texas, Illinois and Michigan.

In 1971 he produced a record album of sacred gospel songs entitled A WITNESS. He wrote the music and words to most of the songs on the record which was recorded by Crescendo Custom Recordings of Dallas, Texas.

After attending Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis for a few months, in 1973, Gerald and family moved to Somerset, KY, where he was Minister of Music and Youth at Beacon Hill Baptist Church for two or three years. The family moved to downtown Somerset across the street from the high school (where the children attended) for almost one school year, then, (six weeks before the end of the school year) in 1977, he moved to Paint Lick (KY), where he served one year as Pastor at Mount Tabor Baptist Church. After this, the family moved a couple more times in the Paint Lick area, then to Lancaster for a year, then, finally, to Richmond (KY), until his death in 2002. [As of this writing in 2003, Katherine still resides at 401 Norwood Drive, Richmond, KY.] He served as Minister of Music for two years at Unity Baptist Church (ca. 1984-1987). (His mother, Hazel, moved from Memphis to Richmond shortly before this time, where she lived at Willis Manor while she was able, then was moved into Gerald and Katherine's home on Ridgeway Drive during most of her remaining months.) Gerald was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond (where Katherine is still a member). He began a new career as a piano tuner in the 1970s, which he has continued to until his death. Gerald and Katherine have also been Shaklee distributors for over thirty years, which they began shortly after Hazel became a distributor (while living in Memphis).

He went to Treadwell High School (Memphis), and was in the ROTC in 1945.
