Harry A. Wheeler, 77, White Haven, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in White Haven, he was a son of the late Wilson and Anna (Shive) Wheeler and was an area resident for his entire life.
A retired mail carrier in White Haven, he served for 33 years with the U.S. Postal Service.
He served in the Army during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the Third Army, 4th Armored Divison under Gen. George Patton's command. He earned two Purple Hearts and an oak leaf cluster.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, White Haven, the American Legion Post 73 of White Haven and the White Haven Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Gray; daughters, Mrs. Neil (Louise) Nauman and Mrs. Charles (Alyce) Sterner, both of White Haven, and Mrs. Ted (Madge) Oldziejewski, Mountaintop; brother, Clayton, and sister, Mrs. Marshall (Alma) Clymer, both of White Haven; five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from St. Paul's Lutheran Church of White Haven. The Rev. John Hazel, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Laurel Cemetery, White Haven.
Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Joseph E. Lehman Funeral Home, 403 Berwick St., White Haven, and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service begins at the church.
