Harry C. Pitman, founder of the Pitman-Moore Company, manufacturing chemists, and until 1912 president of that company, died at his home in Borne, on Wednesday, according to a message received yesterday by A.D. Hitz of George Hitz who is a relative by marriage.

Mr. Pitman was 53 years old. He was born in New Castle, and as a young man became a traveling salesman for pharmaceutical houses in the Indianapolis territory, taking up his residence here about 1896. In 1899 he founded the Pitman-Myers Company to manufacture a pharmaceutical line. Within a few years the name was changed to the Pitman-Moore Company, Mr. Pitman remaining as president.

In 1912, because of failing health, he retired from business and went to Texas. The funeral will be held tomorrow at Borne. The survivors are a widow, a brother and a sister living at Newcastle: a brother at Logansport, and another brother at Dennison, Tex.
