Harry Frederick Ide was born on 11 July 1892, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, to John Frederick Ide and Wilhelmina Zeltwanger.
John was a baker, and started Harry and his brothers working on dough before they could even reach the table!
Harry seems to have worked in the Colonnade Hotel at 1500-1506 Chestnut Street around 1910.
Also, his son Harry remembered a picture of his father working in a fish store, before he was a baker. And in 1917, he was working as a produce salesman, for Keber Brothers, at 530 Luzerne Street. He was then 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, and had blue eyes and brown hair. He was living at 4026 North Sixth Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
But by 1920 he was a baker, and was living at 2422 North Bancroft Street, in Philadelphia, as a boarder with Rebecca O'Neill.
Perhaps Harry and Laura met at the bakery, since in 1920 he was a baker and she was a housekeeper at a bakery. They were married on 22 February 1921, by Reverend George A Scheer, minister of St Mark's Reformed Church, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. They had one child, Harry Frederic Ide, Junior.
See the family page for more about their life.
Harry died on 23 February 1935, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, of an intestinal obstruction (duration three days), with Mickles diverticulum as a contributing cause. He was buried on 27 February 1935 in Oakland Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County Pennsylvania, section O, lot 64. The funeral director was Hemberger. They were living at 822 East Russell Street then.
