PARSONS - Harold E. Connely, 69, Parsons, died Monday in a Joplin hospital. He was born February 18, 1907 in Neosho County. He moved to Parsons in 1917.
He was a machinist with the Katy Railroad until 1962 when he retired. He was general chairman of the American Railroad Supervisors Association. He operated the Connely Rod and Gun Shop at Parsons from 1959 to 1972.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railroad Employees and the Katy Rod and Gun Club, all at Parsons.
He was married September 4, 1926 to Gertrude Hedrick at McAlister, Okla. She survives. Other survivors include a son, the Rev. Gene Connely, Topeka; a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Talbot, Denison, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Clara Keener, Springfield, Va.; and 4 grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at Burris-Wall Funeral Home at Parsons with burial in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Parsons.
