Gertrude M Connely Gertrude M Connely 85 died at 9:45 am v Friday June 21 1991 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center Overland Park She had been in failing health several months She was born June 2 1906 at Mound Valley to James and Cordic (Lcaughncr) Hedrick She grew up in Mound Valley and graduated from Mound Valley High School in 1924 She then attended Kansas State Teachers College at Pittsburg and received her certificate in teaching She was married to I larold E Connely on Sept 4 1926 at McAlcstcr Okla Mr Connely was a longtime Katy Railroad employee and together they operated the Connely Rod and Gun Shop at 1928 Main from 1959 and 1972 He died Sept 20 1976 Mrs Connely was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church ns Trinity Sunday School Class United Methodist Women and quilting group In past years she lud taught Sunday School in the children’s department for many years She was a member of the Nauonal Associa-) lion of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees and formerly was a member of DeMolay Mother’s Club and a sponsor of Job’s Daughters and Teen Town Survivors include: a son the Rev Gene Connely of Kansas City Kan a daughter Ellen Marie Talbott of Denison Texas four grandchildren eight great-grandchildren and a sister Alice Miller of Parsons Four brothers and a sister preceded her in death The service will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday at the Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev Jean Marie Grabhcr officiating Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery
