Harland Lowell Shearer 89, of Slickville passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Excela Health, Latrobe, PA, he was born, Tuesday, February 12, 1935, in Olivet (Armstrong County), the son of the late Wilber Lester and Myrtle Madeline Matson Shearer. Before his retirement, he was employed as a mechanic for over 28 years with Harbaugh Diesel Engine Company. He was a United States Army Veteran. Harland was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Avonmore. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and will always be remembered as a quiet devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Brunk, and her husband, Paul, of Slickville and two sons, Harland “Buck” Shearer of Slickville and Thomas Shearer and his wife, Janel, of Slickville; four grandchildren, Cherish Risinger and her, husband, Josh, of Saltsburg, Lowell, Ashley (Jenney), and Gage. Four great grandchildren, Lacey, Talon, Mia and Carson. Three brothers, Larry Shearer and his wife, Jean, of Apollo, Albert Shearer, of Avonmore, and Bernard Shearer of Mayport, and one sister, June Kostelnik, of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Elaine Loughner Shearer, his brothers, Homer, Blair, Leland, Lyle and Leonard Shearer, and his sister, Velma Swint.
