SNOW CAMP — Mr. Harlan L. “Jock” Thompson, 84, of 7754 Bass Mountain Road, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after 2½ months of failing health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs.. Bernice I. Thompson, who survives, and the son of Mr. Lantie L. Thompson and Mrs.. Belle Wicker Thompson, both deceased. He was a retired foreman for Alamance County Schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cane Creek Friends Meeting.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs.. Wanda Thompson Murray of Burlington; and two brothers, Mr. Finley M. Thompson and Mr. Arnold L. “Al” Thompson, both of Snow Camp.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs.. Gertrude Pike; three brothers, Mr. Garland Thompson, Mr. Edward Thompson, and Mr. J.P. “Tot” Thompson; and a foster brother, Mr. Elbert Scott. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cane Creek Friends Meeting by Mr. Dale Matthews, pastor of Cane Creek Friends Meeting; the Rev. Alvin M. Horne, pastor of Friendship United Methodist Church; and Mr. John Thompson. The body will be placed in Cane Creek Friends Meeting 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Cane Creek Friends Meeting Cemetery.

The family will be at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
