Hans Maag came to America aboard the ship "Samuel"; and landed at the port of Philadelphia, by way of the Delaware River. He moved to Shenandoah Valley, Virginia and his descendants lived in North Carolina. He is said to be the grandfather of Peter Mauk, Sr., the settler of Carter Co., KY, whose descendants eventually led to our Mauk family (still in the Carter/Elliott area) today.
